A tool is only as useful as the person who wields it. A knockoff no-name guitar screams when the right person is playing it, and recording equipment is no different. That being said, often those who can play guitar very well preffer to play very nice guitars.
We have equipped Timeline85 with the tools that will attract the best engineers, because that's what you need to make a good record - a great engineer with the tools he needs to make you sound great.
Our recording system is Protools HD2 Accel: it's the best "all digital" recording environment you could ask for. The 192I/O converter included in this system is one of the highest quality analog/digital converters available on the market. The Control 24 is an awesome control surface that makes mixing "in the box" quick and easy. To help your mix sound great, we also have dozens of the best, most sought after plugins to clean up your sound and dial in perfect tones.
For mic preamps we have two channels of Vintech X73 mic preamps/equalizers. These preamps are perfect clones of the original Neve 1073 preamp, arguably one of the most widely used, cleanest and fullest sounding preamps ever made. Also on hand is a stereo Universal Audio 2610 Tube preamp. These preamps give an extra smoothe/warm tone that's a great alternative to the punchy/brilliant tone of the X73 preamps. We have yet to find a simillarly priced studio in northern California that offers preamps even close to this calliber.
We have a large selection of microphones, all of which have been used by your favorite artists to make their best records. Brands include Neumann, AKG, Shure, B.L.U.E., R0DE, and Audio Technica. We're also the only studio in our price range that offers a Telefunken ELAM251 to rent for $150/day. Simply put, this is the same $8,000 mic you hear on the radio all day long.
